The Ethiopia Public Health Training Initiative is making significant contributions to capacity building in five higher education institutions. Thus, the basic training for health center teams given in the colleges has a direct and immediate impact on all modern primary health services throughout the country, even extending to villages and homes.

EPHTI will assist the college teams in revising and testing draft materials at the campuses between periodic workshops, prior to final publication for use in the field. Eleven more modules are at various stages of development.

The expansiveness of the GOE project has made it difficult to recruit experienced training staff, particularly for the four colleges located in rural areas.
