With two hours of lessons, The Alchemical Guitarist, Volume 2 will give you the power to transform your guitar playing into pure gold. The quest to turn lead into gold is what alchemists have been known for down through the ages. It’s like watching someone paint something and what looks like just a bunch of colors gradually comes into focus.
The review said something to the effect that Richard Lloyd was teaching calculus to fourth graders. What I learned playing guitar is that, “shortcuts,” take a long time to learn and are not musical. The manner in which Lloyd presents the material is very logical, and relatively easy to follow, but there is a lot of stuff here. For a person with basically no formal training like myself these DVDs provide are a treasure trove of information. One of Guitar World’s aclhemical popular instructors, Richard presents lessons on topics that include playing walking bass on the guitar, double pull-offs and hammer-ons in open position thirds, using aclhemical bends to make your playing mistake free, and much more.
As someone else mentioned, the columns are on the DVD, so you can put it in your computer and print it out. One caveat is that there are some mistakes here and there especially with the counting while playingand he tends to jump into certain subjects from the view of someone who knows a lot more rather than a beginner I’m talking about dealing with these concepts, not a beginner guitarist.
